For an effective hiring strategy, you need to align KPIs with KSAs. This essentially means aligning candidate attributes with role requirements.
In the 2nd instalment of the Hiring Superstar Talent series, we stressed the importance of defining Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) before seeking talent, to boost the chances of finding the ‘right fit’ for the organisation.
In this video, we introduce the KSA model.
What is the KSA Model?
The KSA model is a powerful yet simple tool for discerning the exact qualities sought in a candidate. It stands for:
Knowledge:
This refers to essential information and understanding, as well as theoretical know-how crucial for accomplishing the role’s requirements.
Skills:
This encompasses practical, cognitive, and psychomotor abilities required to execute tasks effectively.
Attitude:
This includes behaviour and motivations crucial for task execution, such as character traits and values.
By aligning KPIs and KSAs, hiring managers can ensure candidates possess the necessary qualities to excel in their roles while avoiding mismatches between expectations and capabilities.
Obtaining clarity on the role’s purpose, outcomes, KPIs, and the required KSA attributes helps to create a comprehensive approach to streamline and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the hiring strategy.
